Design Thinking Futures Lab
The Futures Lab Design Thinking course Is a course that teaches students how to design things and have a design thinking oriented mindset. I took the class because I have been interested in both Auto design and Interior design. I figured it could be fun and a good way to learn a bit more about that sort of thing. My goals coming into the course were to learn more about the design process and learn and work well in the course.

Launch 2020
This was our first project in the course. The goal was to both improve our at home work/learning space as well as start to get us as students to think in a design type of way. The image to the right is the before and the image below is the after.
Nikola ModrusanNikola Modrusan joined our design thinking group in microsoft teams on Wednesday October 28th. Nikola discussed about ideation and end user of selected products. He also gave examples of products that had "flopped" based on the creators not thinking it all the way through. Some key takeaways for me from this presentation, would be to not limit yourself but don't expect something your making to stay the same. I also learned that there is a certain order that sets you up for success when it comes to coming up with some new products and product ideas.

Ross ChapmanRoss Chapman is a designer in multiple areas. With many projects and launches that he has done. He attended our class on 10/5/20. The reason he attended was to talk about his career around design and to give us both insight and show us what you can create and do if you just do it. I thought he had an amazing style, he was good at speaking and getting info across. He was also witty and funny. What struck me and inspired me is how he showed the power of personality. He showed how its all in how you carry yourself. As long as you have a positive look out and upbeat attitude nothing is stopping you. Ross deepened and influenced my thinking on design thinking in multiple ways. He demonstrated how careers in design can be adversely different depending on what your working and if your working solo or as a team. He also showed me that everything can be thought of in a mindset based on solving problems and consistently learning. Personally for me this means that I will be taking a couple things from his speaking into consideration going forward in my life. Such as looking at the world in a creative and problem solving mindset, because I noticed it has an impact on thinking and emotions.

Buglist Project 2020
The buglist project has certainly been our main focus in design thinking at least for the past month or so. This project is in groups and there has been multiple stages to it. We each started with a meeting and then after that it was time to get to work and start coming up with potential problems to solve. After we each came up with Ideas it was time to present them to the rest of the class virtually. And based on response we then go into a certain problem and dig deeper into solutions. And eventually we will have an outcome and design for a solution. Most of the work in this project has been in our groups. which has certainly been interesting with it being virtual, But me and my groupmate have certainly made it work and been successful. We have gotten our work done with quality and good communication and rules/ norms for our group. Overall I have learned that I can be successful in virtual projects and in fact I believe I am more successful in virtual groups and classes. We originally struggled with figuring out who will actually participate in our group and who we can count on. However we soon realized that it would be just us and that worked out. I would say that I as a group member am productive and helpful and I do contribute to the team in any way I can. As a group our problem Is the amount of traffic and our end users are drivers.
We are currently going through questioning progression on this because we aren't 100 percent sure if we can create a solution to this that hasn't been pitched yet or developed yet. We each interviewed our parents with the same questions that we agreed upon. We then created a synthesis slide with take aways as well as some other things from our interviews.
My course learning goal was to be good about updating my Digital Portfolio and show who I am through it. I chose this because I thought if I got more practice with it in this class it would help me with my personal marketing and how I can present myself in future professional scenarios. I have certainly been staying up to date with my digital portfolio and focused on it. Some struggles I've had in terms of keeping this goal is keeping up to date with it, as well as having motivation and staying organized.
